
Fire Alarm Technician — Edwards / EST Experience

Integrated Security and Fire Inc. is hiring an experienced Fire Alarm Technician with Edwards / EST fire alarm system experience to support commercial and retail projects across the United States. This position requires travel, overnight work, and hands-on experience installing, testing, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems in commercial environments such as retail stores, warehouses, and large facilities.
Experience with EST3, EST4, EST3X, iO64, iO1000, Signature Series devices, or FireWorks is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Install, service, test, and troubleshoot commercial fire alarm systems.
- Work with Edwards / EST fire alarm panels, devices, modules, and circuits.
- Pull, route, label, terminate, and test fire alarm cable.
- Install horn strobes, speaker strobes, pull stations, smoke detectors, duct detectors, monitor modules, control modules, and related devices.
- Troubleshoot SLC circuits, NAC circuits, ground faults, opens, shorts, missing devices, bad modules, and panel troubles.
- Read and follow fire alarm drawings, device layouts, risers, and site instructions.
- Support inspections, pre-testing, final testing, and AHJ/fire marshal walk-throughs.
- Upload progress photos, job notes, test results, and closeout documentation.
- Work professionally with lead technicians, project managers, inspectors, and customer representatives.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of fire alarm experience.
- Hands-on experience with Edwards / EST fire alarm systems.
- Ability to install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm devices and wiring.
- Ability to read fire alarm drawings and follow site plans.
- Willing to travel for extended periods.
- Comfortable working overnight shifts.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and active commercial job sites.
- Willing to be on-call after hours for emergency service requests.
- Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and professional.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Edwards / EST certification.
- Experience with EST3, EST4, EST3X, iO64, iO1000, or Signature Series devices.
- NICET Fire Alarm Level II.
- State fire alarm license where applicable.
- Experience in retail, warehouse, or big-box commercial projects.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has real Edwards / EST fire alarm experience, can troubleshoot in the field, is comfortable with travel and overnight work, and can complete work cleanly, safely, and professionally.
Work Environment
This position requires frequent travel and overnight work. Technicians may work in active commercial sites, retail stores, warehouses, or construction environments. The role may involve standing for long periods, lifting materials, using hand tools, pulling cable, working on ladders or scissor lifts, and completing work under strict project timelines.
Fire alarm work requires a high level of attention to detail because systems must meet life safety requirements, customer standards, and local code expectations. Technicians must be able to follow instructions carefully and complete work in a clean, organized, and professional manner.
